Winner Update
Empire Covers is pleased to announce that Jason Barnette has been selected as the winner of our Road Trip Movie Binge Watch contest!
We received almost 300 entries from around the country and truly enjoyed reading through each and every one of them. It was extremely fun to read so many different opinions on what makes the best road trip movie. The personal stories of memorable real-life road-trips were, at times, hilarious, moving, and heartfelt.
Choosing a winner wasn’t easy, but eventually, Jason’s writing ability, experience as a veteran binge-watcher, and extreme knowledge of the subject matter won us over (to say nothing of his very unique pick of Cannonball Run 2 as his favorite road trip movie). Jason is actually a travel writer and photographer, and runs his own website called Road Trips And Coffee, making him a true expert when it comes to road trips. To add to his credentials for this role, he even attended film school in the past, making him uniquely qualified to comment on both the road trip aspect of these movies as well as the filmmaking!
We want to express our gratitude to everyone that entered this contest and reiterate just how much fun our team had reading about everyone’s favorite road trip movies and memories, as well as the reasons we should pick them as our winner. The shared love of the genre came through from entry after entry, making the final selection incredibly difficult.
Eventually, we did get it whittled down to a winner and would like to congratulate Jason once more on winning the grand prize. We can’t wait to see your full report once the binge watch has been completed!
Summary
Road trips and long drives are things that almost everyone can relate to. Whether as a passenger, a driver, or both, many people have hopped in a car or RV and set out on the open road for a long journey at some point or another. One of the most common reasons for embarking on a road trip, of course, is visiting family. With the holidays upon us, people are starting to once again plan their own road trips home to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Of course, road trips have also served as plot devices for many classic films, such as Vacation, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, Dumb and Dumber, and more. Here at Empire Covers we are big movie fans, and our affinity for the cars and RVs that people use on road trips should be apparent. To help get in the spirit of the holidays and the road trips they bring, we want to run a contest to find the perfect person to binge-watch some of the most classic road trip movies of all time and help us analyze the themes, lines, and plot points that have made them classics, with the chosen candidate receiving a $1000 cash prize for helping us out!
