About MERCURY SUV Covers
The History of Mercury brand is as interesting as the cars it produced. Mercury was a marque of the Ford Motor Company that started by Edsel Ford in 1938. Edsel Ford meant to create a brand that would fall between the Ford and the Lincoln, a high end brand. The car name was taken from the "name" Mercury, or the messenger of the Gods and during its early year the brand was known for its performance vehicles.
The brands first car was the Mercury Eight, which sold more than 155,000 before production stopped for WWII. Mercury gained status in the 60's when the Comet and Meteor models were released. Quickly Mercury became a front runner for releasing strong performing, stylish vehicles at reasonable prices. This notion was furthered with the production of the classic Mercury Cougar, a now famous muscle car.
In the 70s and 80s Mercury increased dramatically. However, soon afterwards, Americans began investing in smaller vehicles, specifically during the fuel crisis of the 1970s. In 2010 Ford announced the closure of the brand and Mercury vehicles are now considered to be "classic cars".
